I will generally start each engagement by reading the incident reports and liability documents as well as supporting medical evidence and expert opinion. This will help me to understand the framework of the case and the central issues surrounding causation and the particulars of negligence. From there I can branch out to supporting documentation looking for uniformity across all levels of evidence that shows consistency between the stated impacts of the index event and the objective reality.
Once I understand the core theme behind each complex case I can start working my way back through the various chains of causation from both quantum and liability angles.
